Can bright lights cause cataracts ?

I have a few eels and noticed that they appear to have a milky center in their eyes . Its really the protective layer that covers their eyes . Who is an expert on this ? If anyone can say .

Is this a sign of age ? Are the lights too bright and making them sensative ?

There is not much info on eels in captivity .

I agree with Alex. I don't know anything about eels but cloudy eyes is usually a symptom of disease.
