Can C. eibli and C. potteri coexist?

As the subject says, any chance I can mix an C. eibli and C. potteri in a 90g tank? I have the eibli in quarantine now and there is a gorgeous potteri at the LFS that is eating well already. I have a 2nd quarantine available that I can use for the potteri that would allow me to introduce them at the same time. They would also be about the same size with the eibli being slightly bigger.

"can they" and "will they" are two different scenarios. You're planning it correctly by introducing them at the same time, and the tank is large enough to accomodate them both. Still, there is a possibility of intolerance and fighting between them. This might be short lived, or..it might go on and on, with the fish simply not getting along. Try it, watch them, but be prepared to remove one if things don't work out. Keeping multiple centropyges was once thought to be a really bad idea. It works in many cases, but in some, the fish can't live in peace. Good luck!

I have a Potter's currently in my 400g tank and added a Eibli for a few months. Both fish were about the same size and the Potter's only harassed the Eibli for a few days. I ended up removing the Eibli from the tank because it nipped any coral that had a polyp and started chasing the Potter's. I've had the Potter's for over 3 years now and I've never seen it nip a coral, great all around fish IMO. Just wanted to share my experience FWIW.

I have the Eible and a Potters and a Coral Beauty in my 225. I did introduce them at the same time and never had any problem at all.

How large is the same size. If they're both larger than 2 inches you have a good chance of getting two males at the same time, and that will not work.

The eibli is right around 2 inches. The potteri is slightly smaller, but pretty close to 2 inches as well.

I didn't really expect them to pair up and I assumed they would both turn male eventually anyway. Are you saying that if I added them both small enough, that one would stay female and that's the only way they can coexist?

When I got mine they were all less than 2". although at the time I did not have the knowkedge to know that it would help them get along.

There is a chance that it will work, and there is a chance that it won't. No one can say for sure, since it will depend on the individual fish.

If you do attempt them, make sure that you have a back up plan. Also, I would introduce the Potter's first, since they seem to have a harder time adjusting to tank life. Lastly, when you do introduce the last one I would put it in a breeder box for 12-24 hours, so that the other angel can get used to it.
