Hi guys,
I have a quick question for you chalice masters. Can coralline Algae grow over and kill a very slow growing chalice? I have what looks like this very scenario happening currently with two of my chalices. There is a definite white line that divides chalice flesh and coralline Algae. If this is truly the case do you think I can just scratch it off and the chalice will start growing again over that spot? Thank you.

Carolline algea can not kill a coral how ever if the corals skeleton is showing coralline algea will grow on the skeleton. What you describing sounds like the chalice flesh is recending and then showin the skeleton which then the coralline grows on. Please post a pic so we can get a visual of what may be going on.

Sorry about not updating my own thread. I did discover Coralline Algae growing over 2 of my chalices. It was a plating variety of coralline. I chipped it off and there was living chalice tissue underneath.
