Can DC8 Be Refurbished?

KMP

Wag More; Bark Less
I have 2 DC8's that are dorked.

On 1 one prong is burned half in two as a result of water dripping on the outlet - I used my fuge light to see if the sockets work. They do but lights flicker which I'm sure is the result of the damaged prong (I've taken it out of service; yes, I have GFCI on new system).

The other is a mystery. It was working on my old tank the day of a tank swap and upon putting it on the new tank (same day) only the #6 outlet is working. My plan was to daisy-chain it to another DC8 and only run the 9-12 outlets. First dip switch down; second, third, fourth was up. I've named the outlets A09 -12 and even tried B09 - 12. I've even tried to flip the dip switches first down, second up, third down. Doesn't work.

At this point I was going use one for parts and swap power cords; so I opened up the box and see that the power cord is soldered in. That's where my creativity stops. Can I send in the one with the damaged plug to have that replaced? Is there any savings in doing this or is it like a DVD player; the repair vs. the cost new is negligible - may as well buy new.

Thanks-

Just FYI, if its out of warrenty its $50 an outlet for repair so if you have two out its cheaper to simply buy a used DC8, three or more and you may as well buy a new one.

Thanks EnderG60-

I suspect that will probably be the case; figured I'd ask the question.
