Can dead Live Rock come back to live?

I have bunch of dead live rock including dead coral branch. Don't ask me how they died because I do not know. All I know is that they do not smell at all and they have been in fresh water. My question is can I bring them back to life by putting them with my live rock in the tank? or they are dead forever?

This is base rock but i would clean , rinse and mb even sun bake before i use. And yes it will become LR but it takes longer. Add some of this with LR and your good to go.

Unless it was subjected to copper treatments, in which case it shouldn't be used around inverts.

Any rock you put in an aquarium will get covered with life within a few months and become "alive"....

I have used old rock before, and it will liven up over time. You will want to add a nice "live" rock or two to get things started, mainly the coraline and critters. It can take several months, but eventually you will see critters showing up on it. A lot of the bare rock that i used is now showing polyps and sponge growth along with some nice algae.

make sure that you seed the tank with sand or a single piece of rock.
