Can I feed my fish...

Yesterday, I ran out of fish food. So I took some frozen squid and shrimps that were bought at the supermarket from my freezer, cleaned it with rodi water, chopped them up to little pieces, and puree'd it in a blender.

Fed it to the fish...they went crazy chasing down the food.

My question is, can this be long term? I plan to alternate this and pellets every other day.

Thanks!

Absolutly. Plenty of people make their own frozen food by buying fresh seafood and blending it together.

Long term I would replace the squid with some type of fish, squid is something our fish would never eat in the wild and I dont know for sure, but I'd guess its pretty different from their natural diet of zooplankton.

I feed clam, squid, shrimp, muscle and fish mix to my fish. However you need to watch for nitrate if you puree it. Usually I chop it in to small piece and put sheet cloth and squeeze out all the juice before feeding my fish.
