Can I frag this??

Ok, so I know how to frag and I've done it before with mushrooms, but I didn't know if it was ok to do to all types of mushrooms. I usually try to get corals to propogate natural, but this little guy wants to be single. Here he is:

cool looking shroom......
you can frag the same was as the other mushrooms .
to limit stress and give it a better chance at surviving the fraging process ,use the growth rate to decide how many pieces to cut it in to.
slow growth ---- only cut into two pieces.
fast growth ------cut into four pieces

slow or fast grow rate dosent always depend on how ya cut them.if thier wild caught they will grow slo no matter what, in my experiences..i would rather have two fat ricks that are healty, than 4 small one that in my opinion that would take longer to get bac to regular size...but ill have to try one into four pieces an see how it goes..just for the books..

You could cut it off near the base and let what is left on the rock start a new one. That would give you two that way.

Thanks Cowbell; I think I'll probably do that and see how it goes. I don't want to do too much cutting until I see if the coral will heal at a decent rate. My guess is it was wild caught because it doesn't grow very fast whatsoever. All other shrooms keep on mulitplying. Oh well. Thanks again guys!

I have way to many of these and want to get rid of them. How do I get them to release so that I can remove them from the tanks?

You can try pointing a powerhead directly at them until they detach from the rock if you don't want to cut them off Aliie.

I'm glad you like it. I've never been to one of those restaurants, since we don't have them here. I had this screen name in chat rooms and all that long before I even knew that the restaurant existed... kind of funny lol... Are they any good??

The mushrooms most likely repoduce by splitting in half (I think they call it bilateral fission, or something like that), so there isn't much you can do to stop them from doing it as far as I know.
