CAN I have a clam in my reef?

I have a 26 gallon bow tank hooked to a 20 gallon sump with 2 65w PC lights this gives me about 5 to 6 watts per gallon and I have a spot near the top of the tank for it to sit. I have a variety of corals inside now including polyps, brains, and many leathers and they are doing great.

My tank has a SCWD wave maker and powerheads hooked to timers that are on during the day.

My light cycle is enclosed:
10am - Actinics (65w)
12pm - Daylight (65w)
8pm - Daylight off Actinics on
10pm - Actinics off

My sump has 40 watt 50/50 PC lighting on a reverse timer to be on when tank lights are off and then some.

All of my tank supplements are in order and salinity is 1.024 at 78 degrees F. I add Marine snow and Phytoplex every 3 days and have about 50-60 pounds live rock and my tank has been up for about 6 months.

CAN I HAVE A T. MAXIMA CLAM??????

If not which one could I have I want to keep it small like a DERASA

I had a squamosa do quite well in a tank that size with 130 watts of PC light.

Later, I doubled that amount, and he was even happier.

Derasa, Squamosa, no problem. I'd not try a Maxima uynder PC lights.

5 to 6 watts per gallon (means nothing if you dont have intensity)

I have answered your other post in the reef discussion and to put it simply (since you flamed me for offering you fuller advice), you are better off with a Derasa or a Squamosa (both should be 3 inches or larger, it is easier for a beginner). These do grow fast if water parameters are good, even a tiny derasa will get large fast in a 26g tank.

I wouldn't use watts per gallon as a reference for lighting.
Instead I would go by depth penetration of the light source instead.

I wouldn't get a maxima either.
I would personally either get a derasa, or a sqamosa but research the placement of these clams before you decide to get one.

I would also consider the adult sizes of any clam you decide to keep. Most get large and require more space than a 30 gallon.
