Can I install my MP40wqds BEFORE adding water?

It would just make set up easier on my new build if everything was in place beforehand. I am concerned that maybe it is better to create the seal in the water or something.

Thanks!

It doesn't matter due to the fact the two sides (wet & dry) are held in place by magnetism.
But if you wanted, you could always wet the back then install it.

Just don't run it dry. Not even to try for a second.

Thanks for responding, I figured it didn't matter but I was concerned that after filling water could seap inbetween the wetside and the glass and misalign the mp40 or something. Was hoping an Ecotech Rep would respond as I am sure they have tested everything. Thanks again for your input.

People take theirs off all the time with the tank full for servicing.
No worries about getting water behind it.
Once you fill your tank and turn them on, more than likely you will need to do some realignment anyway.

Right, I get that, I have actually had mine for 2 years lol.I have just never installed them dry. I am not worried about them getting wet, I am worried about water seeping in unevenly/partially because the seal was created in a dry tank, and whether or not that actually has any impact. Just crossed my mind when i was setting up my tank. I doubt it does like you say, but figured id post the question. I have also heard of mp40qds falling off a bunch recently, that is what probably triggered my paranoid response lol

I installed mine dry, no problem at all. I'd say better that if wet. I take it off to clean frequently and when I reattach it it tends to move around quite easy until the excess water is squeezed out. I have to hold mine in place for about 10 seconds or the wet side will sag or spin until to extra water is out of the foam
