redfish -

there hasn't been a mystery collected in hawaii for many many years... they just dont exist anymore from Hawaii. The "hawaiian mysteries" are mainly Hawaiian wholesalers selling them after they get them from the marshalls.

the deep purple color is usually a deeper mystery wrasse. the deeper they are the darker in color (so i hear from a reputable source who collects mysteries)

or it could be from Vanuatu - which some mysteries have been known to be found there.

Interesting to know. LA wholesaler list two different, Marshall and Hawaii, variaties. We did not specify type. They must be listing them from where they recieve them, not from where they are collected. I would suppose, based on the color info. you presented above, that sooner or later both of mine will look the same.

On the sixline wrasse issue, do not put one in the tank. You will one day regret it. It matters not how small they start. They get big enough to bother any other wrasse or smaller fish. You will have aggression with the mystery wrasse and the sixline. This is all based on personal experience.

You may also have problems with the Pyle/Lineatus wrasse combo. I had to remove a Pyles from a 225 with a pair of Lineatus wrasses. I did not have a problem with Pink Margins and Lineatus wrasses. I had both in a 120 before Ivan.

palani- haha, you know it bra. btw- your sn sounds polynesian too

redfish- i see, that's going to require some careful consideration, as i would have loved the pyle's, lineatus and pink margin in 1 big tank. w/o a doubt the sixline is totally off my list.
