Looking 3-5 gal container with a screw on or locking lid? The standard 5 gal water container would be great if the opening was wider.
Someone suggested a cooler so I'm thinking about use that but not sure.

What I want to do is setup a temp system that I can take on a road trip and bring back some frags.
Will have to keep sps alive for up to 3 days
I have ac power in the car and will be in hotels at night.
I plan to have a small pump for circulation and a heater.

Any suggestion ? Can it be done?

I am not an expert and I have never done it before but here is my two cents. You should get a cooler with you. Since you have access to electricity, why don't you bring a small clip on led lamp or regular lamp and leave them on at night. I think that would keep them alive for sure.

I don't see why not, consider this the are storms all the time out in the ocean and when that happens corals don't get light for days. As long as there is water movement and constant correct temperature I believe you should be good. Maybe make some 20oz bottles of premixed fresh saltwater to do a mini water change in between.

I've done it before for a two day trip. Used a cooler, heater, an air pump and an air stone. Figure air pump will give you circulation plus better gas exchange. Downside is noise.
