Just wondering if I can QT a yellow coris wrasse in Cupramine? I need one to control flatworms and dont really want to dump him into my reef for fear of ich (and I know you guys are going to say they have a thick slime coat and rarely get ich). I would rather not take the chance if possible.

So I was thinking of putting him in Qt with Cupramine and a tupperware of sand at least for 2 weeks.

What do ya think?

I qt'd my M. meleagris and my H. melanurus with prazipro and cupramine. Neither fish had any problems with it at all, so I'd assume your fish will be fine as well.

QTing is a good practice. But I feel that this particular wrasse is very easy to care for. I had one for several years.

Being easy to care for and having parasites are 2 different things. I QT everything and thus have a parasite free display.

He has been in Qt for 2 days and is doing well, eating, etc.

Are you keeping any sand in this QT? Some report successes of QTing halichoeres without sand, and others recommend it. I personally have never QT'd one without sand, but keeping a tupperware of sand in the QT does require you to keep an extra close eye on the cupramine concentration as the sand will absorb it.

I use Cupramine and a de-wormer on every fish----have for years. SeaChem (MFG of Cupramine has excellent tech support and can tell you by phone if any fish is overly sensitive to treatment. IMO, good tech support is a vastly underutilized resource for us. If a company doesn't have good tech support---I don't buy their stuff.
