Can i run Purigen and Biopellets?

I have been running Purigen for a while but my Nitrates still stay around 25ppm. I have started to run Biopellets, do i need to get rid of the Purigen or is it ok to leave it in?

I'm not overly sure as to the purigen/biopellet compatibility, but I'd start with a large 50%+ water change, or smaller ones every couple days to get the nitrates lower and start from there. Fastest surest way to lower nitrates.

You're fine leaving it in for a while, it won't hurt anything. Purigen binds organics whereas bio pellets serve as a food source for bacteria, so they both function differently. Once bacteria establish on the pellets and start to consume them and excess nutrients, they'll start sheding a film that your skimmer will then remove. At that point you should start to see a nitrate reduction from the pellets. (Usually takes a few weeks to month to kick in.)
