Can I see your floating canopies?

I am going to build a floating canopy for my upgraded tank in the future. I'd love to see some of other RC member's floating canopies. So if you have pictures, post! <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008undefined%2526i%253D36%252F36%255F33%255F15%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_33_15.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D36%252F36_33_15%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a>

Top board is 1/2" plywood but I would reccommend going with 3/4 depending on what you plan to hang up in there. The top piece is 48"L x 24"W and is over an 16" H x 18"W tank. I house 6x48" t5's w/ ballast and reflectors along with moonlights (full retrofit). I "floated" it with 3 L brackets from walmart. You can also find them at homedepot but the dimensions of them are 8x10 (50+lb test per bracket) and I used drywall screws w/ anchors. The canopy is skinned in 1/4" sandeply from homedepot. I used mostly no nails (wood glue) and tack finishing nails to apply the skin. Then coated the inside and outside w/ kilz to cover up any holes, nails, blemishes, etc.. I believe the skinned pieces dimensions are
Front: 48"L x 9"H
Sides: 18"L x 9"H
I didn't do the sides a full 24 since there is a 6" gap between aquarium and the wall. The gap between the aquarium and the bottom of the canopy is 6 inches which gives me a total of ~26 inches from the actual bulb to the sandbed. Shoot me a PM for any questions you may have :D

T-South, that is what I am talking about. I want something that floats like that. =) Well, not technically, but you know what I mean. Do you have anymore pictures of where you placed the canopy on those L Brackets??? It is really nice. Just perfect! =) Yukon, that is a beautiful tank!!! I love the wood working on it. Very top notch. Thank you for the pictures. More?

Sorry I dont have any recent shots

with a setup like that i would get a new tank with hidden overflows, it ruins the look seeing those black boxes with the white tubing

I was wondering, how many gallons per day you believe you loose through the open top canopy? Please let me know. Ty. I'd love to see some more canopies!

Thanks I get that alot. I actually have covered the overflows since it really ruined the view.:(

On my tank I have glass covers to prevent jumps.
