Can I use OM Squirt for return?

Hi,
I was wondering if I can use an OM Squirt on the return line from the sump of my future tank? It is a 110 gallon half cylinder. I was also wondering if it's possible to plumb it without having a future back siphon into the sump? Thank you. =)

You can either use a siphon break (an air hole above the water line) or you could use a check valve.

I use a swing check valve from marinedepot.com

You could use it on the return. Just make sure that the return pump gallons per hour doesn't exceed the capacity of the Squirt.

I would recommend drilling holes in all of the 4 return spouts right below the water line in order to break the siphon should the pump die. Check valves often corrode and fail, plus they significantly restrict flow.

Just make sure you keep the holes in the return spouts cleaned out regularly.
