Can I use "pond" Ph Test Kit for saltwater?

A question: I found a kit to test Ph, but it is designed for ponds. Wouldn't it be able to test Ph in any substance, including saltwater? I know the "safe" levels would likely be different in fresh vs. salt water, but is that the only difference? thanks!

the actual scale is the only thing i can think of that would be different. does it get all the way to 8.4ish?

even in the freshwater test kits there is what they call a high end ph kit so I assume the regents cant cover the full range.

It really depends on the kit. High range test kits work for saltwater tanks. And saltwater pH test kits work for freshwater tanks. I use the same test kit on my African Cichlids and my Reef. But have to use a different test kit on my planted tanks as the pH is so much lower.
