Can I use tap water for Hyposalinity?

Since the fish are in a different tank and there are no corals or rocks in there, would the fish be ok with tap water treated with Prime during hyposalinity? From the tap, my water is about 200 tds

I have read from various experts that as long as you treat the water it is ok. Also need to buffer for pH. I've never done it so I can't speak from experience.
