Can ICK survive on a dead fish?

Setting up my hospital tank and getting ready to treat and go fallow... I have a fish that "went missing" (died) a couple weeks ago in the tank that I wasn't able to find that presumably my CUC took care of. Does this extend my fallow time? Can the parasite live off a fish that has since passed? Also, I know people say fallow means NO FISH.. since I'm asking a question anyway, can someone verify that a cleaner shrimp doesn't count?

Answers to the questions people are going to ask that don't involve my question. (trying to make a long post short and to the point at least in the first bit)
Several weeks? Your fish have been in a tank for several weeks with ICK? - Answer, I lost two damsels and a tang while treating the tank with antibiotic because it didn't look like ick.. (no white spots, just weird behavior from the tang, and lost weight, leading me to think my tang had internal parasites. The damsels didn't show any signs, but I assumed that they had problems with the antibiotic or I over/under treated or something...) Three chromis (the only other fish in the tank did not and still do not show signs of problems. Which has lead to my confusion about what was/is going on with the tank. My clown goby now does show signs of it, so I'm assuming my Chromis are just healthy enough to fight it off)

Once I have the fish in the HT, I'll be able to observe more closely, but the spots on the clown goby seem to give me a definite diagnosis.

The tank is a non standard 75 (5ft,18x18... it was a Kole Tang, and had plenty of swimming room)

My params are normal, not having other problems.

The damsels likely brought the ICK with them, as they were the newest addition and I didn't QT, but will from now on.. especially now that I'll have the equipment.

A dead fish will not extend your fallow time; minimum six weeks, recommended eight weeks (short enough answer for you?)

Perfect answer and much appreciated. I know long posts don't get read (or more often than not long posts don't work.. just wanted to try to limit the question while still giving the background.)

Glad you got a good answer. How is the hospital tank coming along?

PS: I didn't make it out to look at the tank for sale. :mad2:
