Can someone help me with my Alveopora

It has developed these brown spots on top. It's not brown jelly (not slimey or stringy) it almost appears burnt. This pic is before lights are on and the polyps haven't extended yet. When the lights are on it looks great except the brown spots.....the polyps there just poke out a tiny bit. Is is some sort of algae? It has been there for weeks slowly getting bigger.

usually algae will only form when the coral is dead, not while there is still some living tissue. But from the picture it seems like it's an algae of some sort (sharper image would be better to get a clear look).
