Im wondering if this critter is sitting to worry about before I put it in my tank. It's on my bird nest which isn't looking great at the moment due to failing qt lights. It's almost like a tube worm... Hard outer surface... And I can see something inside it but don't know what. Ideas?View attachment 337403

I put some glue over the hole to kill what ever it is. Yea that side looks horrible but on the other side are some branches that are still living. Going to try to salvage what I can.

That is a Vermetid sp worm. They put out web-like appendages to capture food particles which often irritate corals. I remove them from my system when I see them as their population can increase to a destructive size.

That's what I was finding from Google searches. So you know if bayer dips would kill these? I'm planning on changing plugs on these corals if possible but some like my mind trick, are pretty encrusted over.

Thank you!

I have those. I barely set up my new system and had my old rocks in the tank for about a month and now I see them growing on the new rocks such a pita I don't know what to do about them, you think wrasses will munch on them?
