Can Trachyphyllia be placed on Rocks?

As the title says, can they be placed on rocks or should they only be placed on the bottom in the substate?

Lower in the tank is the key. Being placed on rocks is fine.

They certainly can, as mine has been perched on rocks for over ten years. As Travis said, lower is often better, as is somewhat buffered flow. Also be sure that their thin tissue does not come in contact with any sharp sides of rocks, etc.

OK, so not directly in high flow.

Do they require lower lighting? Is that why they need to be placed lower? I was thinking about 12" below my 250W MH 10K bulb. Would that be too much light?

Also, do they require feeding or just as much as a torch, hammer or frogspawn?

Yes, they prefer lower light or at least adapt a bit better to it. None of the corals you listed require direct feeding, but they and Trachyphyllia sp. certainly do 'appreciate' it.
