Hi All

Right now I have a 4 inch False personifier

I am looking for another one, but my LFS they are getting a True one,

can I pair up the True and False?

I heard they were the together before then split into differnt part of the ocean

thx

How long have you had your angel? Are the new true personifiers larger than your existing angel? IMO adding a larger angel and trying to pair it with a smaller established one will normally not work. I have no clue if they will even pair in the first place. I'm sure some others will chime in. Sharing more about your tank will help people guide you in the right direction.

a lot of times it'll be hard to tell if its a real True Personifer if its less than 4". besides the marking, they can tell by where the fish is caught too, but the supplier could easily be lied to since the TP commands a premium price. at sub 4", its unlikely that the mark on the tail has developed. personally i wouldnt buy it if you at least see the marking on the tail starting to develop.

i have a 5.5" TP in which i will add a ~4" false personifer. hopefully the TP can turn into a male, but if it doesnt, i wont be upset.

they're pretty peaceful fish. they might not "pair", but they will likely have no problem getting along with tankmates.

its pretty rare for true personifers to make their way into the states. so make sure its a legit TP. DD might've gotten 4-5 total this yr i've seen for sale.

I doubt they will "pair", but coexist, maybe? It will depend on your setup and we need more info.

I agree that you better have a solid trust in the business you are buying from if you are going to by a TP that small. If you think you are getting a really really good deal, you are probably getting a false.

Thanks geaux xman & nonstopfishies

I am in Toronto Canada, the LFS who is going to get the TP is trustworthy, he brought many rare fish in, he brought Conspicious angel (4" and 5"), Iron Butterfly, Jagulator angel, - 1-2 months ago : black tang (even tho not rare but still) Gem tangs last year the red box fish, etc

Also I bought my scribble and personfier from him, and he held it for me for 6 weeks, and after I picked it, its eating from my hand etc

He's also holding the 2 CB blue line for me and I am going to pick it up next week
I bougt many exp fish from him, like super male flame wrrase, ****aco clowns etc and all were healthy, also he doesn't selll sick fish and if a fish is sick he will hold it for you until it becomes healthy (thats if you still wanted it, lol)

The issue is, I dont think the TP will be nice looking as FP, the FP gets the nice blue face and yellow dots when its adult, but I heard the TP don't, please correct me if I am wrong

Also ...I dunno the price of TP, but what do you think is a good price for it?

thx

i say go with the True Personifer especially since you already have a FP.

Pran,

If you plan on getting a TP I recommend getting one with the stripe already developed because a few of us that bought a year ago without the stripe did show sign of the stripe (in my case both showed after 3 weeks into my tank) but disappeared after only a few weeks. I was so close on getting another one few months ago when one show up on LA DD with the stripe. TP just don't look right without the stripe.

I don't know if TP & FP will pair up but they can certainly coexist in a tank together. My FP was in first and much larger but after a year the TP is catching up in size and I expect in another year the TP will for sure be equal if not larger.

As for your question on price of the TP--the TP I saw recently on DD with the stripe was $500.

I 2nd getting a TP, I have the one from Don from 10/14 pictured above and it is a model citizen that gets along with everyone. Both my male and female scribbled angels pick on it from time to time but it is finally starting to stand up for itself.

Congrats on a beautiful TP. Do you have any recent pictures? I would love to see some pics. Do you notice a color change since your purchase? I noticed on mine and some pics of other reefer's TP the color has lighten up a bit toward brownish on the body where it's not as dark as in the beginning. This is not the case on FP where they hold the dark color very well.

I have mixed these fish, and not sure if they will pair up. But they do kinda get on, they can be kept together. I have done so for over a year with only little fighting.

If your buying TP definitely buy with Black tail stripe, otherwise they don't look very good. My FP male has lovely blue face with yellow spots. My TP at 6" has the body of a male with a thick black stripe now, but still has no yellow spots on the face.

Same here.... The FP pair I have are always jet black. The TP sometimes goes a bit grey and is always a lighter shade than the FP.
