I got some frags of a Hammer coral and a Candy cane or trumpet coral I cant tell. I was curious on them splitting. As the CC splits does it's skeleton grow as well so that the new head has its stalk?

What good is a thread without sone pictures. Took these with ny Galaxy S4.

I would put the base of that candy cane ünder the sand to kill that bubble algae. Don't pop it. My frogspawn hasn't split just started new stalks off of the other stalks

Looks like a trumpet coral and from my understanding it depends on tank params as some tanks show good growth of skeletal structure as well as the heads and some more or less just spilt heads off of the same stalk (I'm sure I will stand corrected) but I have seen my trumpet start a new stalk with a new head in which has split into 2 heads recently

Just buried it, thanks for the tip. I know not to pop them but sometimes their stuck on there pretty good its hard to remove them without popping one.

The top trumpet is very fat and fluffy and the middle one is pretty good sized also. The bottom one sometimes opens for a few days then stays closed for a week. He's not receding though which is good.

Those look really nice. I have a candy cane frag that just seems to split without the skeleton changing much, atleast not visually. But it stung up my by bubble coral so its not doing too good atm. On the other hand, my frogspawn and hammer show significant skeletal changes as they get more heads.

The top trumpet isnt round anymore which leads me to think it might split hard to imagine there skeleton growing fast enough to keep up with the heads.

I have better growth on my neon green c canes placed closer to the light and upper part of my rock. I only recently placed my frogspawn on my rock but it did well on the sand.

I still have mine on the frag plugs so that's why they're all in the sand but all seem to be doing well there. Im trying out some new led I got to see if they can handle the workload.
