Canon A630, S3 IS or ?? Really struggling

Ok, I'm the kind of guy that would rather go to a buffet just so I don't have to make a decision. :D

I'm trying to pick the right camera for me under 400 dollars. Money is an issue because we are saving for the vacation the camera will be going on. We have a couple other digitals already (cybershot, Minolta Z2 etc..) but I want a newer better camera for myself and for the vacation.

I was a mouse click away from purchasing an A630, when the reality started sinking in of whether or not I would be happy with it long term. I backed out. I read another thread on here talking about the S3 IS and checked it out. Now it's in the back of my mind.

Why should I get an S3 IS over an A630? The S3 has 12x optical zoom and 6 mp. The 630 has 4x optical zoom and 8 mp. The extra zoom would be nice for tank shots but would they both be comparitively good for just snapping shots on vacation, or every day stuff? Are the lenses different?

I've also been switching back and forth between the A630 and the SD630. I know everybody trashes the SD for not having a view finder but I love the SD. Only people have said it doesn't do well outside and you can't get lens attachments for it.

Can you get better lenses for the S3 than the A630? Or do they take the same? Mainly I'd just like to know if you're paying for the extra zoom capability alone with the S3.

Thanks

Never mind. Been reading more on the S3 and I really like the idea of having the image stability function while zooming. Also like the larger lens and willing to learn it. I think I've made my choice.
