canopy fans

what do you guys use for canopy fans? Looking to get a few of them, but can't decide which one is best.

Yinger, I just bought two Icecap 4 in fans today from Marine Depot. I know there a lot more expensive but I didn't want the loud noise and from my reading they are the best. . I just finished putting them in the canopy and setup my 250 MH light. I still have some adjustments to make but it’s jut to hot in my house. I’ll finish tomorrow morning.

fans

I just bought two of these and they are awesome push a whole lot of air and whisper quiet

fans

I run 2 x 250 mh and my temp doesn't flucuate at all when they are on the fans only come on when the lights come on

Computer case fans $9.99 at FRy's or $15 for the led ones.
These are DC fans so i just cut the wires and connected to a AC-DC adapter (transformer?) from an old broken calculator.

I use computer case or CPU fans. You just have to wire them up to a plug-in transformer (you probably have one laying around the house) and you're set.

how long have you been running these for? Do they come in 3 inches?

yeh, i saw that as well. another question: My canopy has 3 inch holes drilled. so 3 inch fans should fit in there no problem?

yeah they will fit but i would use those 4 3/4 ones less rpm = less noise and the bigger one push alot more air. a jig saw will fix that size of the hole

I second that. You can slow down larger fans for normal use, and still have room for highter RPM when the hot days come this summer.

What fans have temp sensors on them? ICECAP was mentioned, but are there others?

I would not spend the extra money on ones with temp sensors. My advice is to get computer fans from newegg, and an ac adapter that allows you to adjust the voltage. Leave it on full power, and turn it down when you want it quiet.
