Cant use my Vector M1 with a battery back up

Hello everyone, I have a vectra m1 and an ecotech battery pack with cable booster, anyways, I hooked it all up and it seems that the pump won't work with the battery pack, I turn off or disconecct the power cable from the pump and water just starts to backup even tough the leds on front of the controller are lit, waited for 10 minutes and nothing, I read that the pump needs to be calibrated, I did a calibration on the pump and nothing, finally I came across the fine print on the actual manual of the cable booster, it states that if the pump was manufactured before April 2016, then the pump needs an firmware upgrade, I don't have a reef link and I am not going to buy one and don't know anybody that has one,
Questions
anyone out there had the same problem?
where can I find such firmware upgrade?
is there another way to do the firmware upgrade, besides using a reef link?
