I don't think the regions will have any influence.
Keeping two Thalassoma wrasses will be pretty difficult, unless you have a huge tank. They probably won't tolerate each other. T. lunare gets well over a foot long too.
I used to keep cichlids and I had an aquarium with both African and South American cichlids and it was really interesting how they interacted. They come from totally different environments and behave so differently I would imagine that the fishes from the Caribbean would be even more different from the indopacific species than the African and South American cichlids are.
