Caring for Dendros

Ok, so I bit the bullet and bought a dendro. Just one head.. My 180 consists of mostly SPS and LPS, a few softies..

I love the look of the dendro, and thought I would give it a shot. My fish and coral guy is delivering them to my house next week. I got a bunch of zoas as well with the order :)!

So from all of your experience with NPS corals, what's the best way to go about caring for this gem?! Any special foods as I currently carry Oyster feast, Phytofeast, Rotifers, Baby Brine Shrimp, Cyclopeeze, Mysis Shrimp, and occasionally I breed Live Brine Shrimp from my hatchery. Thoughts???

All of those are good. I haven't read the sticky, as I was keeping them before coming here so forgive any redundancies, if any

I generally use the larger shrimp, mysis, brine or krill as a base and add the others, such as Cyclopeeze, Oyster/Rotifer Feast, plankton, spirulina and my homemade fish food and Rod's, chopped into smaller pieces. I soak in Selcon, Zoe or Vita Chem, alternating between them, each mixing. I'll also add Fauna 's Ultra Min F once a week or so. I've had very explosive growth with this regimen.

I would also look into getting a Sea Squirt. You'll need to cut the tip back until it's large enough for the shrimp to get through but it's far easier to control the amount fed vs a regular baster.

I have about 180+ jumbo heads of dendros. I feed each head a small piece of finely chopped raw shrimp meat. I do that once a week. I had been doing this for three years now, I started out with 4 colonies of about 4-8 heads per, now it hurts my arm just to make sure each jumbo head has something to eat each week. But they are still my favorite coral!!!!

I will get some pics out asap, currently working on a 535 gal fowlr tank. I purcahsed 24 nano a couple of months ago, in the middle of putting all my rhizo, dendros, and duncans in that tank. Once all those pieces are set, I am sure I will take pictures non-stop to that.

Looking forward to the pics!

I purchased A dendro with one large head and 2 tiny heads to days ago.. Im very happy. I also appreciated this thread.

Wow! I have 3 head. :(... They are super expensive at my LFS. Want to sell me a few? ;)

I started with one adult head about 7 months ago. It just started sprouting baby heads this past month. I now have 6 baby heads all in this one month period. I have heard of others having their dendros for 2 years before sprouting babies.
