I have a 40 gallon w/ 2 clowns and a 6 line wrasse.

Would a carpenter or a flasher wrasse be suitable with the other tank mates??

or would you say neither b/c the tank is too small to support another fish?

go read about them at liveaquaria.com or buy the "Marine Fishes" book - very handy and inexpensive

I did read about them. Just wanted to know if a carpenter wrasse would get along with a sixline wrasse. I heard the sixline wrasse could become aggressive.

well...not sure - but this is a free bump :)

PS. I have a six line wrasse and he is the model citizen :)

IMO, with a 6-line I'd skip it. So often fish go by body-shape, which is probably close enough.

IME, flasher/carpenter wrasses are very skittish, very likely to jump. Be sure to have a very secure covered top, but IMO with a 6-line I'd skip another wrasse.

I wouldnt worry about a Flasher Wrasse bothering your existing fish, but I would be concerned as to the six-line bothering him.

I bought a filamented flasher and solar from marine depot --both came beat up and the filamented didnt last more than a week --the solar is 100 % healthy now. I like the hawaiian flame or exquisite wrasse more than the flasher
