Catalina Water Company

Has anyone used the catalina water company natural sea water?? I have been using oceanic and I started to notice a decline in polyp extension and overall apperance. I am tinking of using this water (from Petco-yuck) to get everything back in balance and then switching to Reef Crystals. I just wondered if anyone is using this of has used it in the past. I can't find reef crystals in my are and will need to order it online.

We have used it for the last 2 years and everything seems ok. It is a little low in magnesium.

hows the alk and ph?? I just wonder because I run BB. How expensive is it out there??

ph is usually around 8.2 or so. alk about about 7dkh. Price varies wildly from anywhere around $.20/gallon to $.85/gallon. We are only use it some times now because a friend goes to UCSB and brings back 400 gallons of free water now and I steal from him.

It's like $2 a gallon in Nebraska. Looks like I'll give it a try thanks. Did you see any unwanted algae blooms??

No. Though some will tell you it is high in Phosphates, I never had a problem with it.

are you really going to pay $2 for a gallon of salt water????? I'd look around for a LFS that sells premixed watter. $2 per gallon is ridiculous IMO.

I used it in a 12 nano for a few years. Never had a bit of problem with it, and doing a gallon/week changes it was cost effective for me.

Wow, 2.00 per gallon is pricey. But I can vouch for their water. I used it when starting a new tank. At that time it was 1.00 per gallon. At certain times of the year the phosphates in their water can be high.
