My trap has a PVC pipe in the back that leads to the surface. Leave it in the tank for an hour, then add food. You can close it from about 10 feet away. 90% caught in a few hours. All within 2-3 days. Just don't feed them anything else and they'll "bite".

I have a damsel I have been trying to get out of my tank for a few days. Its an electric blue. If im not successful tomorrow im tearing it down. Although I never heard of a fish trap. Can you buy them locally?
