catching a mantis

i have a mantis in my 55 reef tank with about 75# of live rock in there and my tank is made of glass i want to get him out but i dont want to tear my tank apart to get to him hes about an inch long and very fast noticed him about 2 months ago must have got him as a hitchhiker and if i get him out do you think a pet store would buy him from me i dont want to hurt him i just dont want him and if anybody would be interested in him and can wait till i catch him maybe we could do a little trading if i could find out how to ship him safely

you can reduce the size of shop vac hose to 3/4 and suck him out. I did it that way

pinchy is awesome looking, he is all in a tank by himself, he ate my 5 inch deresa after they live together for 6 months. maybe he got bored, i mean i have a twelve inch long tentacle aneome, so they definetly get fed a lot, with large meat pieces daily. so for punishment he got put in a tank by his lonesome. if i have a tank to a semi aggresive invert why not go all the way with the toughest thug on the block? and so far all have had is reef tanks and i have always liked the aggresive type

i think i have enough info now to try and catch him with a bottle inverted with maybe some brine shrimp as bait i dont see him often but when i catch him i will repost i will separate him after catching and anyone locally wanting to due some trading is welcome to him i really dont want any money maybe a good start of some star polyp or zoos or anything welcome and i will let you know if i am interested in your item for trading

Well, depends on what you think is interesting. I've got some nice blue/brown zoos, a greenbanded goby, a bicolor pseudochromis, a rock with 2 red shrooms and a couple of green striped shrooms (and a bunch of green algae...ugh), and a working in-sump skimmer that would probably work on a tank up to 50G (flows about 250-300 gph I'd guess...bought it used). Oh yeah, and a rock with one neon green candycane polyp, a leather of some sort and a 1" square patch of GSP.


Any and all of it is up for grabs.

i a have now caught him and if someone wants him he is about one and a half inches long and healthy i do not really want to ship so it would be local only and i would like $25 or trade for most anything i have other posts on other sites so respond ASAP if you want him-first come gone thanks
