catching and ridding my tank of a possible mantis shrimp

Hi All

Can anyone tell me how to rid my tank of a mantis shrimp?? My tank is a full on reef with plenty of LR, corals and fish. But I am losing my fish slowly but surely. Do I have to strip my tank??? and then what do I do?? Do I wash all my rock in fresh water??

try to bait the mantis, build or buy a trap and try that. i would do that before i tear my tank apart. are you shure you have a mantis?

I am in the same boat. How can you tell if you have a mantis or a pistol shrimp ? I know I have one in my reef tank becouse I here it snapping & there is alot of snail shells in 2 or 3 spots. I dont think a trap will work becouse it has plenty of food in the tank. I have only seen it once & it was only for a split sec. so I dont have a clue what it is. Do you catch them both the same way ? Is there other was to catch one ?
