I lost my Kole Tang Petey to a bad case of ich yesterday (my QT was rushed - live and learn). Noticed what appeared to be ich on my clown fish and foxface this morning. Set up my HT to begin hypo and had to start catching fish. I had a blue damsel, two clowns, and a one spot foxface to catch in a 100 gallon tank - ugh.
Caught one clown due to it's curiosity...we lowered an empty glass flower vase into the water and he swam right in. The damsel has a favorite hiding spot under a rock in the corner of the tank. He went under there, and was essentially cornered. I put the net at the only exit, and used a turkey baster to push some water behind him. The little guy swam right into the net!! Two down, two to go.
I laid the glass vase flat on the bottom and started to slowly coax the clown with the net, sure enough, he spooked and swam directly into the flower vase. Used the net to block the exit and he was on his way to HT. Last was the foxface, who by this point was in full defense mode...and holy cow are those guys fast! Chased him around the tank for a few laps, when BAM - right into the flower vase! I quickly tried to follow him in with my net - to find it was hung up on a rock. After a panicked few seconds I untangled and blocked him in before he figured his way out of there.
All in all I was done in about 20 minutes. If you've never tried it before, give it a shot - maybe it will work well for others!
Now on to a fishless tank for the next few months
Happy reefing?:hmm5:
