I recently had a tank crash and lost all livestock and coral with the exception of my two eels. well about a week or so after the crash my caulerpa brachypus started to shrivel and wilt. its gotten alot worse since then and now looks like its pretty much done for. i had a really nice size chunk of caulerpa in my sump so im kind of confused as to what killed it. ive had the caulerpa for a pretty long time now

Sounds like it has gone sexual and crashed. When this happens it turns pale and then melts. If the macro in your sump doesn't go "off" as well then you can replace it.

all the macro in the sump is melted now should i leave the tid-bits in there or clean everything out? do you think this caused my crash??

If you had a whole lot of this little caulerpa it could have caused the crash. I would take out any remnants and clean everything. This species has a way of popping up after a crash, if it does be sure to keep it trimmed up so this does not happen again. Any caulerpa that begins to lose its green colors and goes pale should be removed immediately from your system.

Also when it goes sexual in the main tank it usually will do the same in the sump.
