caulerpa dieing

I had a basketball size bunch of caulerpa last week growing in my fuge. I had a lot of red slime in it. I decided to rinse it in fresh water to get rid of the slime. I didn't think much of it and looked in the fuge today and now it is the size of a soft ball and it looks like the leaves are mostly gone. The stalks are still green. Did I kill it or will it come back.

Caulerpa is very sensative to rapid salinity changes. It is a good possibility that it is completely dead. Only time will tell keep it pruned so the dead/dying parts arent polluting your tank, and cross your fingers.
