Centropyge resplendens???

Yeah, but you have to search for "rare fish" vendors. They're not that hard to keep from what I've read, but you'll pay upwards of 1g if not more for a single specimen

Look for Flame Back, Fireball, or Brazillian Flameback Angelfish. Very similar and a fraction of the cost.

Resplendant Angelfish (Centropyge resplendens) - $999.99

Flameback Angelfish (Centropyge acanthops) - $49.99

All Centropyge species are hit and miss on their "reef safe"ness. Some people have great luck with them. While others are little terrors that pick on coral polyps and clam mantles. Personally, unless you're building a tank around a $1000 fish, I would make sure that you don't include anything it would disturb. I would hate to see someone have to get rid of one because of it and lose about half of the value.

Thier little mouths jut out, off the body to nip at things, (think Alien). Why would fish have such specialiszed feeding aparatus? To keep thier little eyeballs from being stung by the corals they are snacking on!

where is the breeder in hawaii? is there a website?

search for "rtc" or something like that on google. But the breeder is sold out and their just still around 750 or so. If you want a nice fish that's not in that range, look for something else...rarer stuff is always up there.

most angels will nip at alot of things in a reef tank trying to see if it is worth their effort to eat it, but mostly they should be fine

yep that's the site. He doesn't any available now though and I think it's in the $800 range - stillnot as nicew as the wild ones. But there few and far between, big $$$$ & they all go to the orient.

Why would you say they're not as nice as the wild ones. IMO, they're cheaper, hardier and most likely just as beautiful. Why would you take something from the wild when there is a captive availability of it. In any case, have you actually seen the two side by side to compare and make that statement?

Kalare; Yes absolutely have - if you look at any of the captive bread centro. IMO there is a huge difference - At this point I have a wild & captive breed interruptus in the same tank and there is quite a difference. Since these fish are collected far and few between, you would not be hurting the population and for the extra $$ it's worth it to me. But this is just my opinion and I suggest people do as they feel comfortable.

Isn't there just slight genetic differences in each of them. IMO it could have gone the other way if you got "good" genetic mutations in the captive bred animal. No?
