Cespitularia

If your LFS can't get it there are several on-line sites that have it.
Check out the Reef Central sponsors page. Atlantis, LiveAquaria, and Dr. MAC to name a few.

They've never been anywhere close to being regularly collected because of their location. PM the two members I stated, I have cespitularia from both of them

They're found in a lot of regions according to soft corals and sea fans. You might actually see a lot of the duller looking species come in, but I believe the one you're looking for is the one with the metallic blue sheen. That one came to the US via S. Africa.

If adam, and maximus don't work out for you, I'll sell you a frag if you're really that interested. I have both strains and will throw in some free sansibia. But try those two first, wonderful sellers from personal experience.

It's not really that flashy of a coral. It's just rather uncommon in the hobby. Probably less prolific than any LE coral you can come across. There seems to be some stigma against paying 100+ for a stalk of xenia.

Atlantis probably won't have any for a while. Their colony completely died off and I just traded them back a frag to restart their colony.

Casshern, how different do the two strains you have look? Got a pic of the sansibia?

hello viper. nice seeing you at atlantis the other day! I have pictures of the sansibia, it basically looks like a blue gsp. I'll pm you a pic sometimes soon.

As to the two strains, my new strain is kinda doing poorly (I just got it) so I can't say. It looked to be more uniformly blue in the bag but that could just vary from individual to individual. I will post pictures if it ever heals

Hey there! Didn't realize it was you.
I have what I suspect is sansibia I'm still unsure if it's really sansibia or just blue anthelia with short stalks.

WOW! ... I would probably pay 100 for a frag of Ces... its worth it if the captive colony is growing well...

When I get to a point where I can setup my wholesale aquaculture facility I will definatly be buying multiple frags for culture...

thanks for the info.

Cassern and Viper-

Can you post pictures of the Sansibia, or the 2 different types of Cespitularia you have. I'm curious how different colonies look.

Tanks.:)

I have some sansibia in my tank. Here is a shot.
