Very nice! I'm almost done my DIY 5g fuge that will house chaeto and xenia as primary filtration for my shroom and zoo tank (no skimmer either). Nice to see that it works beautifully :D

sweet tank..FLricordia.. i got a question..for ya..im not running a skimmer either.. will the cheato in the sump help decrease the hair alge after time if you allready have it>?..thanks

Nice looking setup. What type of light are you running on the fuge? I'm running right now on mine, which probally has about 8-9 gallons of water, with one of those Nivision house compact twirly bulbs that a lot of people are using. It's like 13 watts, & 5700l I think. I just don't think my chaeto looks nearly as green & good as yours.

lighting is a 24wt 50/50 PC. The chaeto can strip the tank of nutrients. I noticed the rics don't open as much untill I target feed them, then they are OK for a few days, then they start to shrivel again until I feed them. I would say that Bigscott, that a chaeto fuge would be ideal to get rid of hair algae over time. Hope this is of some help to those striving for simple and natural set-up.

thanks, ill get more chaeto..plus in my next sump / fuge im gunna grow coppapods to feed my rics..an feed phyto..
