chaeto in media reactor?

So I would like to run some chaeto in my tank to help out with the filtration. BUT I do not have a sump, or fuge set up. My question is, would it be possible to stuff something like the ViaAqua polyreactor with chaeto, instead of carbon, or phosphate?

you could pick up a hob refugium and grow it in there.
