Chaeto not growing

I have it in my fuge for over 1.5 yr and it grows like weed when I first put it in, but it stopped growing after the first trim months ago. I use the 5500k light from homedepot...it's on 15 hrs a day reverse of the MT lights. I tried dosing iron, but no luck. I did water changes and the NO3 is low, but not as low as it should be. Just got a phosban reactor put in 2 days ago. Any suggestion?

magnesium levels ? that's very important for both plants and corals. It should be 1300 ppm

How often are you doing water changes? Doesn't matter what nutrient it's short of, water changes will generally help fix the problem.

IME, chaeto tends to turn yellow when iron is low. In this case, dosing iron made a huge difference.

I haven't doing water change as often as I should, but I just did a 15% water change few days ago and planning to do another tomorrow. Going to do 3-4 more water change in the course of 2 wks to replenish elements and lower nitrate and phosphous.

O Agios, I dosed iron before and nothing bad happened...or good, my algaes didn't grow a bit. lol.

if you have nitrate/phos problems youll have better luck doing one large water change then several small ones

Hmm...then I need to get a bigger container cause I only have a 34 gal and a 24 gal. I would like to mix the salt in one big container. Maybe I should get a 60 gal container. :-S Thanks!
