Chaeto question

I decided to experiment and got a football size of chaeto for free. Since I have a FO with bio-balls in the sump, I decided to try it in the main tank. I wedged it between the back wall and a rock. It actually looks kinda cool in there as I needed some green. The fish have left it alone so far.

Anyway, my question is this. Should I turn the clump over from time to time for light or should I just leave it alone. Has anyone had success with this method ? I'm mainly trying to export PO4 and trates.

I would turn it every few days if that's possible. With such a large overall colony getting light to all the individual strands might be really hard any other way. You could also break it up into smaller balls as well. I would also be tempted to shake it in old water when you do water changes to loosen up any detritus that collects on this algae.
