How much light should chaetomorpha get and for how long? I read some where that it should be exposed to light 24 hours a day.

Cheato tends to do well under most lighting intensities, as long as sufficient nutrients are available. Most plants do better with a dark cycle. Photosynthesis is great, but respiration during the dark cycle is also required for plant health.

A number of folks put their sump on a reverse light cycle. Light at night, dark during the day. This has been known to help with ph swings from night to day due to continued photosynthisis.

Billy beau is correct. That is what I intended. Just do not run 24 hours. Fuge on at night, tank off and vice versa.
