Chalice growth question

I recently picked up a tie dye chalice frag. It's my first chalice. The frag is mostly purple with 4 tiny yellow eyes and a few small patches of blue. I have never seen any feeding tentacles come out of it but have seen the mouths open. Anyway, I've gone off on a tangent.

Do new mouths appear on established coral or do new mouths appear on the edges as it grows out? The outer rim of the frag is now mostly orange with another spot of blue and a part that is yellow but is larger than the mouths. I assume that this is growth?

The majority of lps corals from what I've seen as far as asexual reproduction is concerned,
Grow new polyps from the edge.

What sixliner said and feeding tentacles tend to come out at night when all lights in the tank and around the tank are off. They may come out during the day if it detects any particles of interest in the water but usually come out when all lights are off in the tank and house. Pretty interesting sight. You will be able to see them a bit more as the coral grows as sometimes you don't see them with small frags.

Huh, I thought I read somewhere that some types do not show feeding tentacles. I'll keep trying to find them. Do you think that moonlight leds affect them making an appearance?
