Im transfering over a 75 gallon freshwater tank to a reef tank and I need a little advice. I have a lot of limestone in the freshwater tank that I would like to use for the basis of my rock structure in my new reef tank. I know the right way is to get live rock but im a poor college student and i cant affort it so i want to stick with what i have. Can someone tell me if i should clean those rocks in a certian way in order to put them back in the saltwater without haveing any adverse affects. In other words do i need to clean the rocks before i put them into the saltwater tank.

from what i can remember.. i dont think limestone is a very good rock for saltwater... dunno.. someone will chime in.

limestone should be okay (calcium carbonate)

You could rinse them in diluted vinaigar than rinsed.
