Changing the Plumbing

T Diddy

Happy to be here
I'm not happy with the current configuration of my plumbing...it isn't very functional, and I have microbubbles making it to the return. I have two internal corner overflows with a drain and return in each. Are there any unforeseen issues to consider when replumbing an existing tank/sump? I'll be using PVC and glue.

Also, is there any problem with moving bulkheads on an existing setup? I want to isolate the returns to one side of the tank, and both drains on the other.

Thanks in advance

IMO, it's better to have the drains on either side or in the middle so it pulls water evenly. Otherwise you may have a lot of dead spots in the tank. Which could easily be taken care of with powerhead placement. I may just be over-thinking but that is what I was told when designing my plumbing. As far as re-doing your plumbing, there shouldn't be any problems. Just give the PVC glue a solid half hour or so before you cut the water back in.
