changing to fo

I am converting my 180g to a fish only tank with about 170lbs of live rock. I was wondering if I still add the same trace elements that i did to my reef tank. i.e calcium, Iodine, strontium?

Were you testing low for those? I wouldn't add anything that I am not testing. For a fish only, the levels should be maintained with regular water changes using a good quality salt.

I too went from reef to FO.

Your fish won't care if your calcium is under 300.

I would just do regular water changes to keep nitrates low and not worry too much about the rest.

I good skimmer is a good idea too.

most of those trave elements were for the corals you were keeping, the fish dont need nor use those elements.
the occational dosing of calcium isnt a bad idea to keep the coraline up,
other than that and buffer, you are good to go!
