How cheap? I have one of those "cheap" Coralife one's, and I hate it. The probe doesn't stick to the glass, thus I have to put it in the "sump" by the pump, it just floats around and I suspect it to be about +/- 3*
I have been hurt by the electronic digital ones.Malfunctions. The stick ons aren't very accurate. What I ended up with was a regular glass or plastic (if you can find one) that I suction to the inside of the tank. I always make sure it's secure there and it's always accurate. No temp problems since.
I too think the Coralife digitals are junk mine was never accurate it also was never consistent in the degree of inaccuracy. I think you should always have a glass one in the sump to double check anything digital anyway. Just an extra precaution IMO.
