Cheap/good camera

I want to get a digital camera for my girlfriend for christmas. I can only spend $200 to $250 on it. After seeing some really good pictures up here I feel that you guys know a lot about them. Hopefully she will let me snap some shots of my tank with it too... hehe.. Please let me know what you think

What exactly are you looking for? A full sized handheld or something that can easily fit in her pocket? What will she be using it for?

Sorry. Yes I want to get a full sized handheld camera. I can really only spend $250 or maybe $300. Shes really wanted a nice one for a long time. She likes to take out-door pictures.

That cannon looks like a beauty but it would also take a cannon sized chunk out of my nonexistent wallet lol

You can get the S2 for a lot less now, which really is just as good as the S3, just with a bit less resolution. Other than that, they are almost identical.

i picked up the S1 off of ebay for like 110, its what i could afford at the time, hopefully i can get the S3 with the income tax return lol.. great cameras

last years model of the nikon coolpix l3 is on sale for 149.00 at walmart and best buy. I bought one last week and love it. Check out some of the pics i took with it ( i still need some practice)
