howdi peeps. I was wondering if anyone out there has used cheato to reduce nitrate/phosphate levels in their fish tanks. Ive read a bunch about it and am thinking about getting some for my system if it really works. Also was wondering if you can buy it at the lfs or do people mostly just order it online? I appreciate anyone who has had some success and noticed a significant drop in nitrates/phosphates.

have you tried finding out if there is a local reefing club in your area?

you might check here on RC for your specific area
(if you havent already)... they have a local club forum section then see what is avail in your city/state.

you should then be able to get some free chaeto thru that channel very easily (and local)...

chaeto works great
and (perhaps) has become the 'choice' macro to use for a variety of reasons that you are probably already familiar with (doesnt go sexual like caulerpa algae etc)

if you are having nutrient issues
might also consider using xenia in a fuge (or dt) which they are also useful in this regard

I use chaeto in my sump took care of my nitrate issue and i bought it off ebay grows like a weed so i have to thin it out every so often

how much flow should the fuge have? I have a 24g with a 7g fuge with mud system. DSB and a huge amount of chaeto. Phosphate level read 0.14 with Photometer! Should I trim back the chaeto?
